TI Maintenance and Repair |
By the end of the calendar year 2008 and under the guidance of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) Office of Administration, the Facilities Management and Engineering (FM&E) Office of Border Patrol Program Management Office had a total of approximately 370 miles of pedestrian fence and 300 miles of vehicle fence completed, under construction, or under contract along the Southwest Border. In addition to the fence, the TI Program also developed a number of other tactical infrastructure security improvements. In addition to fencing, tactical infrastructure also consists of roads, lights, electrical components, and drainage structures. Now that the task of construction is nearly complete, the focus has turned to maintaining this tactical infrastructure to ensure that the investment made by the Department of Homeland Security continues to help provide the Border Patrol with effective control of the Southwest Border. Maintenance and Repair Contract SupportWhile CBP is working on developing a long-term solution to maintenance and repair challenges – via the Comprehensive Tactical Infrastructure Maintenance and Repair (CTIMR) contract – the TI Program is currently working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to release a number of “interim” contracts to bridge the gap and provide immediate maintenance and repair support.Information on both types of contracts can be found below. |
