Jim Barach's Outlook from the Storm Team Weather Center

Showers Ending Tonight...Partly cloudy Friday...Few Showers Saturday...

A cold front moving through the region on Thursday brought cloudy skies along with showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms briefly reached severe levels. The storms will weaken and taper off overnight with mostly cloudy skies and a low temperature of 44 degrees. Friday will be partly cloudy and breezy between the cold front and an approaching upper level low pressure system. There will be enough sunshine to push the high temperature up to 68 degrees along with winds of 15-25 mph.
The weekend will start out with the low pressure system moving overhead for mostly cloudy skies along with some scattered rain showers. The best chance for any showers will be to the north. The high temperature will cool to 58 degrees with the clouds, showers and cooler air behind the front. Sunday will see high pressure move into the region which will bring back mostly sunny skies along with milder conditions. The high temperature will warm to 68 degrees.
Monday will see high pressure strengthen over the region which will make for partly cloudy skies along with dry conditions. The high temperature will warm all the way to 77 degrees. Tuesday will also be partly cloudy and dry under high pressure. The high temperature will soar all the way to 80 degrees. Wednesday will see a weak wave of low pressure move through the region which will bring partly cloudy skies but no precipitation. No precipitation is expected with the high temperature dropping a bit to 76 degrees.
Thursday will see high pressure start to build back into the region which will bring back partly cloudy skies along with dry conditions. The high temperature will warm slightly to 77 degrees. High pressure will continue to strengthen on Friday which will make for another day of partly cloudy skies and dry conditions. The high temperature will warm to 80 degrees.
The next weekend looks to be partly cloudy with dry conditions along with continued warmth. Saturday will see the high temperature warm to 82 degrees, and Sunday will be slightly warmer at 83 degrees.

A quick look back at yesterday's forecast shows that skies were clear to partly cloudy and dry as forecast. The overnight low temperature was a very warm 58 degrees which came in a full ten degrees warmer than the forecast low temperature of 48 degrees. Thursday was mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms as forecast. The high temperature in Charleston made it to 74 degrees, four degrees warmer than the forecast high temperature of 70 degrees. Huntington's high temperature was 64 degrees. Charleston picked up .18" rainfall while Huntington reported .01" rainfall.

Friday: Skies will be partly cloudy and dry ahead of an approaching low pressure system. It will be breezy with winds of 15-25 mph and a high temperature of 68 degrees.

Saturday: The weekend will start off with the low pressure system moving overhead for mostly cloudy skies along with some scattered rain showers. The high temperature will drop to 58 degrees with the clouds, showers and cooler air behind the departing cold front.

Sunday: High pressure will start to build in over the region for mostly sunny skies and dry conditions. The high temperature will warm to a seasonable 68 degrees.

Monday: High pressure will strengthen over the region which will make for partly cloudy skies and warmer conditions. The high temperature will warm all the way to 77 degrees.

Tuesday: High pressure will continue to strengthen on Tuesday for partly cloudy skies along with another warm up. The high temperature will make it to 80 degrees.

Wednesday: A weak wave of low pressure will move through the region which will make for partly cloudy skies and dry conditions. The high temperature will drop slightly to 76 degrees.

Thursday: High pressure will start to build again over the region which will make for partly cloudy skies along with dry conditions. The high temperature will warm slightly to 77 degrees.

Friday: The dry and warming trend will continue under high pressure. The high temperature will make it all the way up to 80 degrees.

Saturday: The next weekend will start out with partly cloudy skies and dry conditions under high pressure. The high temperature will warm to 82 degrees.

Sunday: The second half of the weekend will also be partly cloudy and dry under high pressure. The high temperature will warm again to 83 degrees.
