Ellis Technical High School for a ground-breaking ceremony marking the start of an ambitious $84 million project aimed at expanding and renovating the 53-year-old Killingly school. On Wednesday, many of those same people dodged the rain, walked past a towering, new granite sculpture near the building's entrance and gathered inside the school's multi-purpose room to celebrate the end of major construction at the school — eight months ahead of schedule. |

| | On a bright, beautiful Monday morning a ceremonial ground breaking ceremony was held at Emmet O’Brien Technical High School. Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman spoke at the event along with School Principal Laurie LeBouthillier, Superintendant of School Dr. Nivea Torres and Department of Administrative Services’ Division of Construction Services Deputy Commissioner Pasquale “Bud” Salemi. “It’s and exciting day for Ansonia and Emmett O’Brien,” say Wyman. “This project will really anchor the community to Emmett O’Brien and give amazing educational opportunities to these students. Learning the skills and trades offered here at Emmett O’Brien will give these students the opportunity to get high paying jobs right after graduation.” |

| | Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by business, trade, education and community leaders as well as other state and local officials, celebrated the grand re-opening of J.M. Wright Technical High School in Stamford. Planning for the revival of J.M. Wright Technical High School began shortly after the school suspended operations in 2009. Just four years later, the school reopened its doors as a model for technology-driven education and welcomed 145 incoming freshmen students.

| | After much planning, designing, building and anticipating, the moment has arrived. On Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, WCSU officials held an official ribbon cutting for the new Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University.
The event was held in the West Lobby of the new 130,000-square-foot building on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.
“The new Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) at Western offers the opportunity to receive a high quality arts education in an amazing facility, at the relatively low cost of a state university,” said Dean of the School of Visual and Performing Arts and Professor of Music Dr. Dan Goble.

| Monday, July 21, 2014 | | Governor Malloy and DAS Commissioner DeFronzo Announce Funding for New Litchfield County Courthouse |
| | Governor Malloy announced in late May that the State Bond Commission will vote on the final funding elements necessary for the new Litchfield County Courthouse project to commence in Torrington. This project will feature the consolidation and construction of a new 174,000 square foot Litchfield Judicial District Courthouse on Field Street in Torrington. The new courthouse will house Civil, Criminal, Family and Juvenile Courts. This project will create or retain approximately 1424 construction related jobs with a total project cost of more than $81 million. |

| | A ribbon cutting ceremony for the newest addition to Quinebaug Valley Community College was held at the Danielson campus on Thursday, May 22. The new 38,000 square foot wing houses the Quinebaug Middle College, a regional magnet high school which opened its doors in 2008. |
