Biography
Karen Kopecky is a research economist and assistant policy adviser in the research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Her major field of study is macroeconomics with particular interests in public finance, household/family economics, and computational methods for macroeconomic modeling.
Prior to joining the Bank in 2010, she spent four years as an assistant professor of economics at the University of Western Ontario. From 2002 to 2005, Dr. Kopecky served as an instructor, teaching assistant and research assistant in the economics department at the University of Rochester. She was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis during the fall of 2009. She has published her research in the Review of Economic Dynamics, the International Economic Review, and Theoretical Population Biology.
Dr. Kopecky received a bachelor of arts degree in economics and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a master's degree and doctorate in economics at the University of Rochester.
