LANCE STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF COLONEL MUAMMAR EL-QADDAFI

WESTFIELD, NJ– Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) issued the following statement on the death of former Libyan leader Colonel Muammar el-Qaddafi.

“Confirmation of the death of Muammar el-Qaddafi is a tremendous victory for our U.S. Military, our NATO allies and most important for the people of Libya who for too long have endured his terrorist regime and long record of brutality.  The Obama Administration, especially Secretary Clinton, also deserves credit for their work on this issue.

“And while the world cheers the fall of Colonel Qaddafi our hearts are once again heavy for the 189 Americans – including 38 New Jersey residents — who perished onboard Pam Am Flight 103.  Though we cannot bring back these innocent Americans, we can seek justice and honor their memory by demanding full cooperation from the new transitional Libyan government regarding the United States’ ongoing investigation into the bombing of Pan Am 103 and other terrorist attacks attributable to the government of Muammar Qaddafi against United States citizens.”
