LANCE: HOUSE GIVES FINAL APPROVAL FOR $180,000 FOR CRANFORD'S ENERGY EFFICIENT EFFORTS

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-07) announced today that the House of Representatives gave its final approval of Lance’s $180,000 request for Cranford to make the township more energy efficient.

The Senate is expected to give its final approval later this week and the measure will then be sent to the President – where he is expected to sign it into law.

According to Cranford Mayor David Robinson and other local leaders, the funds will be used for the town’s municipal building energy efficient window replacement program.

“Cranford has a great plan to make the township more energy efficient and ultimately benefit the environment and the taxpayer,” said Lance. “I’m thrilled that we are finally nearing the end of a long legislative process and a step closer to making this federal investment in Cranford a reality.”

According to township officials, the funding will be used to reduce the energy costs of heating and air conditioning the Cranford municipal building by replacing nearly 50-year-old windows installed in 1960 with energy efficient windows.

“We’re appreciate all of Congressman Lance’s has hard work on behalf of Cranford,” said Cranford Mayor Dave Robinson. “Energy efficiency has been a priority of the Cranford Township Committee, from replacing light bulbs in municipal buildings to replacing windows. We've found that these expenditures can pay for themselves in the relatively near term. Our focus has been and remains fiscal discipline, spending tax dollars prudently and saving them whenever possible.”

Lance said he first learned of Cranford’s funding needs for its energy efficiency program through outreach meetings that he held earlier in the year townships and municipal leaders. Lance said he regularly conduct outreach meetings with local officials in an effort to determine the best way he can help serve local communities with their requests for federal funds.
