LANCE DISCUSSES PANCREATIC CANCER LEGISLATION WITH NEW JERSEY CANCER AWARENESS ADVOCATE ON CAPITOL HILL

Lance Meets with Stephanie Blash of Springfield to Discuss Pancreatic Cancer Awareness

WASHINGTON – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today met with Stephanie Blash of Springfield, New Jersey to discuss the importance of pancreatic cancer research and advocacy.   During the meeting, Blash, a cancer awareness advocate, praised Lance for his leadership in Congress and efforts to increase public awareness for pancreatic cancer.

For his part, Lance is a leader in Congress in the fight against pancreatic cancer.  Earlier this year, Lance and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA) introduced the Pancreatic Cancer Research and Education Act, H.R. 733.

The bipartisan legislation proposes comprehensive research initiatives and programs that would facilitate finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.   Once enacted and fully funded, the legislation would create a more targeted approach to provide scientists with the resources they need to make progress in developing diagnostic methods and treatments that are now lacking for pancreatic cancer patients.

Earlier this week, Lance served as the keynote speaker to more than 500 cancer survivors and advocates participating in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s annual meeting in Washington.  The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.
