Local Issues
The wellbeing and success of the communities of the Third District have always been Congressman McGovern's first priority during his time in Congress. Over the past 13 years, he has consistently delivered millions of dollars for vital local and regional projects, small businesses, public safety, regional and mass transportation projects, and affordable housing around the district. Here are just a few examples:
-Secured federal funding for innovative, high-tech small businesses.
-Was integral in helping to save police jobs in Worcester and Fall River.
-$2.8 million delivered to regional transit authorities in Greater Attleboro and Southeastern Massachusetts for infrastructure repairs and new buses.
-$1 million to Medway and Ashland for long-overdue traffic improvements.
-Secured millions of dollars in federal funding to eradicate the Asian Longhorn Beetle in Worcester.
-Led the fight to block the ill-advised liquefied natural gas facility in Fall River.
-Helped Metrowest communities deal with clean water requirements.
-Worked to bring jobs to Attleboro at the Swank-Cookson facility.
Jim will continue to fight for our cities and towns. For more information on his continued efforts on behalf of the communities of the Third District, please visit the Latest News section to browse recent press releases.
