Publications

There are many U.S. Census Bureau publications that provide information about the history of the Census Bureau and its programs. In this section, we provide links to a variety of publications that can be used as a starting point for historical research. Use the links on the left to find documents and data from past censuses and surveys.

In addition, many historical records are available through the National Archives and Records Administration, Federal Depository Libraries, or the Government Printing Office.
