Mobility Data Available from the U.S. Census Bureau

The U.S. Census Bureau today released a report detailing the geographic mobility of the population between 2010 and 2011. According to the report entitled Geographic Mobility: 2011, 11.6 percent of people changed residences over the past year; the lowest recorded mover rate since the Current Population Survey began collecting statistics on the movement of people in the United States. Other migration data released today includes state-to-state migration flows from the 2010 American Community Survey 1-Year Estimates. The state-to-state migration flows are created from tabulations of the current state of residence crossed by state of residence 1 year ago.
