Northern Border Project |
The Northern Border Project (NBP) deployed Remote Video Surveillance Systems (RVSS) in the Buffalo and Detroit Sectors to provide coverage along the Niagara and St. Clair Rivers. CBP chose the Buffalo and Detroit Sectors for this deployment based on the needs of the Border Patrol and the unique operational area which consists of coastal maritime, ravine, urban and rural environments. The systems in Detroit and Buffalo consist of a network of fixed RVSS sites, each equipped with remotely operated cameras that provide 24-hour, year-round capabilities. In addition, NBP upgraded the Combined Agency Security Center (CASC) capabilities at the Champlain, NY, Port-of-Entry (POE), including improved cameras at remote border crossings and upgraded computer equipment to remotely monitor border crossings. |
