CBP San Luis Port Extends Weekend SENTRI Hours

(Monday, October 15, 2012)

San Luis, Ariz. – Travelers using the San Luis Port of Entry SENTRI lane will get a little extra time to cross the international border on weekends beginning Friday, October 19.

To further facilitate the number of trusted travelers entering the U.S. on weekends, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have decided to extend the port’s operational hours from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, Friday through Sunday. Hours on Monday through Thursday will remain unchanged as 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

“CBP Field Operations continues to explore new ways to improve the crossing experience and align with the goals of our Trusted Traveler programs,” said Acting Port Director Robert Schroeder.

For information on operational changes, document requirements and more, tune your radio to AM 530, as you approach the border.

The Office of Field Operations is the primary organization within CBP tasked with an anti-terrorism mission at the nation’s ports. CBP officers screen all people, vehicles and goods entering the United States while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel. The mission also includes border-related duties, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration and trade laws, and protecting the nation's food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
