Through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, $475 million in funding has been appropriated for Great Lakes restoration and research. The comprehensive plan will target serious concerns facing the region, including invasive species, nonpoint source pollution, and toxic sediments. EPA and its Federal partners will coordinate State, tribal, local, and industry actions in an effort to achieve outmost success and reach designated initiative performance goals.
