The U.S. Census Bureau has concluded its Market Research Phase. The U.S Census Bureau has determined through its Market Research that small businesses can perform this work, and anticipate on using Alliant Small Business under GSA Schedule.

Background:

The Geography Division of the U.S. Census Bureau plans, coordinates, and administers all geographic and cartographic activities needed to facilitate the Census Bureau's statistical programs throughout the United States and its territories. The Geography Division manages the Census Bureau's programs to continuously update and maintain the features, boundaries, and geographic entities in its nationwide, automated Geographic Support Services (GSS) called TIGER- the Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing Systems and address information in the Master Address File (MAF). They conduct research into geographic concepts, methods, technology, and standards needed to facilitate the U.S. Census Bureau's data collection and data dissemination programs. The Geography Division devises and manages numerous systems, databases and methodologies to provide specialized maps, geographic reports, and computer files for publication and electronic dissemination to both internal and external customers. This includes a wide range of databases and production control systems utilizing a combination of both in-house and commercially developed software. And the Geography Division provides expert advice, geographic and cartographic methods, and practices appropriate for statistical programs.

The Geography Division has a need to acquire contractor services for geographic data processing system design, development, operation and maintenance of the Geography Division's computer infrastructure in support of both new and ongoing programs and operations. The Geography Division will seek creative, innovative solutions employing industry best practices to program management and engineering processes, delivering the required functionality without constraints so that the government obtains best value.
