The following indicators are used to identify special trade agreements
and are found in several U.S. Census imports of merchandise products.
Due to the increasing number of special trade agreements, with the release
of January 2004 statistics on March 10, 2004, the widths of the country
subcode and U.S. goods fields will be expanded to 2 characters, left justified.
In addition to the expanded field width, the coding structures will also
be modified. This was done to align U.S. Census data products with the
trade agreement designations in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and
with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency's import filing system.
The secondary special program indicators have not been modified in any
way.
