AES Unscheduled Maintenance Outage

**********************************************************************

The AES production and education regions will undergo an unscheduled maintenance outage beginning at 11:00 PM EDT Saturday, March 24, 2012. Both regions will be restored by 3:00 AM EDT Sunday, March 25, 2012.

During this outage, incoming AES shipments will be stored in a queue and once the regions are restored processing will continue and messages will be returned to the filers.

The AES Development Team will be implementing the database changes associated with the new Department of State/ Directorate of Defense Trade Controls License Codes and associated edits and validations for ITAR controlled shipments that will be effective March 30, 2012.

State Department licensable shipments cannot be exported under the AES Downtime Policy and must be held until connection is restored and an Internal Transaction Number (ITN) is received. All shipments that were exported under the AES Downtime Policy must be filed along with any new AES transactions.

If you utilize the AES Downtime Policy for export, please contact the port where you will export from. In lieu of the AES Proof of Filing citation, use the AES Downtime citation which consists of the phrase AESDOWN, your individual company's Filer ID, followed by the date.

For example:      AESDOWN     123456789 03/24/2012

See the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website for further information on the AES Downtime Policy:
