10/03/12 - Governor Quinn Announces Construction of 1,000th Bridge Since Becoming Governor
CREATE Project on Illinois Route 38 to Create 340 Jobs, Reduce Delays, Improve Emergency Response and Enhance Safety
WEST CHICAGO - October 3, 2012. Governor Pat Quinn, joined by Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann L. Schneider and other state and local officials, today announced the plan to construct an overpass bridge at Illinois Route 38 and Kautz Road over the Union Pacific Railroad, marking the 1000th bridge improvement to move forward since Governor Quinn took office. The nearly $26 million dollar project, funded by Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital program, will create nearly 340 construction jobs, reduce traffic delays, and improve safety for travelers in DuPage and Kane Counties.

09/27/12 - Illinois Reaches Milestone toward South Suburban Airport Approval
Layout Plan Submitted to FAA; Key Step Highlights Planning Progress, Land Acquisition Efforts
PEOTONE – September 27, 2012. Governor Pat Quinn today announced that Illinois has reached another major milestone toward approval of the South Suburban Airport by submitting to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) a draft Airport Layout Plan for review. The Airport Layout Plan is the sixth of the nine key elements that make up the project’s Master Plan and further demonstrates Governor Quinn’s commitment to building the critical airport as soon as possible.
09/26/12 - IDOT Statement on High-Speed Rail Milestone
CHICAGO – Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann L. Schneider issued the following statement regarding Illinois railcar manufacturer Nippon-Sharyo / Sumitomo, the intended awardee on a $352 million, multi-state procurement for construction of new passenger railcars. Caltrans, the lead agency on the procurement, has issued a Notice of Intent to Award the railcar contract to Rochelle, Ill.-based Nippon-Sharyo for the construction of 130, bi-level passenger railcars designed to better accommodate passengers and high-speed rail.
