- Emphasizes the value of evidence-based information and data-driven decision-making to effectively deliver program services.
- Serves as the agency's liaison to external auditors and assists with determining proper actions to correct audit findings while also reviewing and providing guidance to strengthen the management control environment to provide reasonable assurance in achieving the agency's objectives.
What is Accountability? The Office of Accountability is responsible for developing and implementing the Accountability Program, which sets, maintains, and manages the monitoring policies for the Department. DCEO views monitoring as a process for assessing grant accountability. Monitoring maximizes the efficiency and effectiveness of DCEO’s fund-issuing programs by working to assist grantees, provide adequate resources, address issues, and regularly review programs to ensure fiscal conscientiousness in releasing and managing DCEO’s funds.
DCEO and the Office of Accountability strive to assist grantees in achieving and exceeding their goals while meeting all of the various monitoring and reporting requirements. The grantee and each DCEO unit shown below are equally important in the DCEO accountability process.
