US Department of Labor to offer free conferences in May, July and August on prevailing wage requirements for federal contracts

Conferences to be held in Florida, New York, Arizona, Colorado and Nevada

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division today announced that it will host five free conferences throughout the United States to provide outreach on the rules concerning prevailing wage requirements under the Davis-Bacon Act, McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act and the labor standards provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

“The Department of Labor is committed to ensuring that all of our stakeholders – contractors, contracting officials, unions, workers and other interested parties – understand the wage and fringe benefit requirements that apply to federal and federally assisted contracts,” said Nancy J. Leppink, acting administrator of the Wage and Hour Division. “We are pleased to provide the contracting community with these free prevailing wage conferences that are a key component of the Wage and Hour Division’s ongoing effort to foster good jobs through increased awareness and enhanced compliance of federal prevailing wage requirements.”

The conferences will be held May 10-12 in Melbourne, Fla.; May 24-26 in New York, N.Y.; July 12-14 in Phoenix, Ariz.; Aug. 2-4 in Denver, Colo.; and Aug. 16-18 in Las Vegas, Nev.

To attend one of the conferences, send an email to whdpwc@dol.gov that includes the participant’s name, title, organization and email address, as well as the location of the conference. There is no fee for attending; however, space is limited. Upon receipt of this information, a Labor Department representative will advise whether the request can be accommodated.
