Partnerships

The Boston Fed has established partnerships with other organizations in order to promote economic education.

Some of the programs include:

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston also provides outreach to public school students through a partnership with Excel High School in South Boston. Programs offered throughout the year on-site to provide students with educational growth, workplace training, business skills development, personal consumer education, and after school jobs.  Programs are designed to empower students to pursue higher education and include

  • After School Job Program
These part-time positions are usually filled by 5-7 participants of the Summer Program.  The Bank has, on occasion, sponsored a student through completion of a bachelor's degree.
  • Boston Job Shadow Day
The Bank hosts 15-20 high school students annually to gain insight into the various jobs that comprise the Boston Fed. The program helps students with business socialization, gathering and synthesizing information, and presentation skills.
  • Boston Summer Job Program
Students participate in a 7-week, full-time work experience, and are placed in jobs in various departments in the Bank. Over the years, many students have remained at the Bank working part-time during school, and securing a job after graduation.  These students hold Bank jobs as supervisors, electricians, and Federal Reserve Police Officers.
  • Classroom at the Workplace (CWP) / Summer Academic Enrichment Program
CWP is a program initiated by the Bank and two corporate partners to augment the MCAS program.  Enrichment programs also provide academic preparation workshops beyond MCAS preparation for 10-12 students.
  • FinTech Scholars Program
The program addresses the low participation rate of intercity high school graduates in the financial services industry.  Fifteen to twenty juniors are recruited from a National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship class that provides them with business basics. Once accepted into the program, scholars are required to adhere to established standards of the program, including academics.
  • SAT Preparation Program
This 7-week summer program helps students prepare for the SAT. Participants include students from the Boston Fed's Summer Program and from other non-profit organizations.
