Local Economic Analysis and Research Network (LEARN)

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is working to deepen its relationships with other institutions in the Southeast engaged in regional economic analysis and research. As part of this commitment, the Bank's Research Department has formed the Local Economic Analysis and Research Network (LEARN).

The Atlanta Fed's Research Department has a strong tradition in regional economic analysis. The Bank's grassroots information-gathering network across the Southeast is a vital part of the monetary policymaking process. In addition, the Bank has a skilled research staff interested in applied research on public policy topics relevant to local and regional economic development.

What is LEARN?
LEARN is a forum for academics and researchers with a detailed knowledge of economic developments in local economies in the Southeast. The aim is to create a network for discussing and exchanging ideas on research, methodologies, and current economic developments.

Who is LEARN?
LEARN members are university-based centers for business and economics research in the Sixth Federal Reserve District (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, eastern Tennessee, southern Louisiana, and southern Mississippi) and Atlanta Fed economists and analysts who focus on regional economic issues.

Why LEARN?
For the Atlanta Fed, LEARN will serve as a valuable source of localized information and insight regarding economic developments and trends. Discussions within LEARN will serve to enhance the contribution of regional economic intelligence that is essential to the nation's monetary policymaking. In addition, the network will raise the awareness of LEARN member activities and will allow members to share information and insights to further develop the local and regional economic analysis of all participants.
