Dallas Fed Trimmed Mean PCE 2.2 Percent for August

DALLAS—The Trimmed Mean PCE inflation rate for August was 2.2 percent at an annualized rate, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

The overall Personal Consumption Expenditures inflation rate for August, released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, was an annualized 0.4 percent, while the inflation rate for PCE excluding food and energy was an annualized 3.0 percent.

The Trimmed Mean PCE inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in August was 2.8 percent. Over the same 12 months, the price index for overall PCE rose 4.5 percent and the price index for PCE excluding food and energy rose 2.6 percent.

The Trimmed Mean PCE inflation rate is an alternative measure of core inflation in the price index for PCE. It is calculated by the Dallas Fed, using data from the BEA.
