Teacher Workshop Series

K-16 educators are invited to join us this summer for any of our free, professional development workshops at the Kansas City Fed. Each workshop will include an overview and interactive demonstration of the latest educational resources available.

Expert speakers will also be on hand to discuss recent research and hot topics tied to economics and personal finance.

About the Teacher Workshop Series

Workshops run from June 2012 to August 2012. All workshops take place at the Kansas City Fed, 1 Memorial Dr., Kansas City, MO 64198.

Workshops
June 11-12 Money, Math and Make Believe:
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Using Children’s Literature to Teach Money Smarts (workshop is already full)
  Learn about existing children’s literature to help teach math and “money smart” concepts.
   
June 19 The Labor Market: Post Recession and Beyond
9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Explore how labor markets have been impacted due to the recent recession,
  as well as what we might expect in the short-term recovery.
   
June 28 Crisis and Recovery: Past, Present and Future
11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Find out how the Great Depression and other historical crises
  can be used to teach about the recent recession and recovery.
   
July 11 Teach Economics and Personal Finance Through Multimedia
9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Learn how online simulations, videos and other media can be used to stimulate
  student interest in economics and personal finance.
   
July 17 What’s New With Consumer Trends, Regulation and Research
9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Uncover the latest in consumers trends and regulations and what to expect in the future.
   
August 3 Common Core: What to Expect and How the Fed Can Help
9 a.m.– 4 p.m. Discover what the Common Core will mean for your classroom
  and what the Fed can offer to assist you.
 
August 7 Conversation with Chairman Bernanke: Monetary Policy and the Fed
9 a.m.– 4 p.m. Money, Economics and the Fed: Featuring a Conversation with the Fed Chairman
