Visiting the New York Fed

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks in the Federal Reserve System. Visitors to the Bank will be able to explore the Fed's roles and responsibilities through a guided tour and interactive exhibits in the Bank's museum.

FedWorks: Money, Banking and the Federal Reserve System
Learn about the central banking functions of the Federal Reserve System through an interactive, multimedia exhibit that allows visitors to participate in a monetary policy simulation and to learn about the Fed's role in the economy.


Plan your visit

Visitors must enter the building at 44 Maiden Lane.

  • Visitors are required to bring a printed copy of their visitor ticket and a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. The name on the ID and visitor's ticket must match.
  • All visitors and bags are subject to security screening.
  • Limit the number of belongings you bring to the museum; bag storage is not available.
  • Taking pictures or videos is not allowed in any part of the building

Reservations: Guided tours. Advanced registration required.
Details: Guided tours feature an overview of the Federal Reserve System and its policy responsibilities, as well as an exclusive visit to the gold vault. Space is limited. Tours can be booked as far as ninety days in advance. Schedule online as early as possible.
Available days: Monday to Friday, except Bank holidays. Subject to change.
Available times: 11:15 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 12:45 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Tour length: 45 minutes
Tour Capacity: Up to 25 visitors
Cost: Free
Note: High school groups must have one teacher/adult supervisor for every eight students. Students who are part of a school group must be at least 16 years old or juniors in high school.



Reservations: Self-guided visit. Advanced registration required.
Details: Take a self-guided visit of the Museum at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Self-guided visits do not include the gold vault.
Available days: Monday to Friday, except Bank holidays. Subject to change.
Available times: 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Cost: Free
Note: If you have already booked a guided tour, then you do not need to book a self-guided visit.
