    • The entire contentious situation over our daughter's health through the VA Spina Bifida Program is caused by the VA interpreting "comprehensive health care" to mean "skilled medical care only." As you know, "Comprehensive health care" and "skilled medical care only" are two far different things. PL 387-110, 38 US 1803 and 38 CFR 17.900 all three speak of and authorize "comprehensive health care." Nowhere in any of the three controlling documents is "skilled medical care only" mentioned. Or even "skilled medical care" OR even "medical care" for that matter. All three controlling documents speak of "COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE." Our family understands (when reading PL 387-110, 38 US 1803 and 38 CFR 17.900) that health care means health care, and that comprehensive means comprehensive. We can't find ANYONE other than the Spina Bifida Program in Denver who disagrees with our simple, straight forward understanding of the term "comprehensive health care." Our daughter is suffering greatly because of this, and instead of helping her, the people who MADE the mistake are circling the wagons to protect the "system," rather than trying to help Honey Sue and the other several hundred A/O spina bifida children for whom Congress INTENDED this care. And, yes, I DO know the intent of Congress, because I KNOW the folks who WROTE section 408 of PL 387-110. Can we recruit YOU to assist us with correcting this?

As soldiers, we were one of the nations greatest assets. When returning from war, as disabled Veterans we are now worth more dead to the Government than alive. Why is the VA Disability claims system so broken? Why do claims take so long? Years and years.

Two small items that are not so small. At the Dorn Hospital in Columbia, SC veterans are required to stand in a long line to sign up for their travel pay documents, many of whom have a problem standing. Travel pay checks take many weeks to get and the only explanation was that they are running behind. Second some veterans have not gotten their ID cards because they are in a drawer in the Welcome Center. The explanation is that the VA office in Atlanta send them back to Dorn and not to the veterans home address. It boggles the mind and seems to be straight out of a bad novel. No one seems to care.
