How To Find Your Twitter Short Code or Long Code

If you add your phone to Twitter, you can tweet by sending a text message to a short or long code. Sending a text message to any of these short or long phone numbers will post your message as a Tweet to your Twitter profile and be sent to all of your followers. Read below to find your country's code.

We currently support 2-way (sending and receiving) Twitter SMS via short codes for the below listed countries. To get started, send the word START or SIGNUP in a text message to any of these Twitter numbers:

Long codes and how to use them:

If your country and carrier is not listed as having a short code above, you can use one of the following one-way long codes to post messages to Twitter. You will not be able to receive Tweets through this channel, however.

  • UK : +447624800379
  • GERMANY : +4915705000021 
  • FINLAND : +3584573950042 
Note: Subscribers may be charged international message rates using these codes.

To add your phone to your Twitter profile via long code:

  1. Send a text to the correct long code listed above with the word START.
  2. Wait 2 minutes.
  3. Next, send your username to the Twitter long-code. Do not use @ or quotes. Send your username ONLY, like so: hotdogsladies
  4. Wait 2 minutes after sending your username.
  5. Next, send your password to the same number. This is case sensitive, so be sure you are sending your password correctly.
  6. Wait 2 minutes.
  7. Finally, send the word OK to the same number.

To test if you have correctly added your phone, send a "test" Tweet to your long code number (just like sending a normal text message). Then, log in to www.twitter.com via the web to make sure your Tweets shows up on your Profile. If so, you have correctly added your phone. Once again, you will not be able to receive any texts back from a long code.

If your carrier is not listed above, first see if you are able to use one of the one-way long codes listed above to post messages to Twitter. We're working on getting more local short codes for other places, and we'll update this list as they become available.
