TRIANA, Ala. (WAAY) - Volunteers from the Appalachian Regional Commission were not afraid of the rain; they stepped up to give an area park a little tender, love, and care.

The lucky recipient to receive the TLC was Flamingo Park in Triana.

More than two dozen community volunteers and ARC executives spent the day clearing trails, repairing park tables and benches, and sprucing up flower beds. The mayor says she is happy to have the help.

"I am just welcome to have them down," says Mayor Mary Caudle. "We were already working to revitalize the park and everything so it was great to have them down here and continue to help us do that."

The group of ARC board members are in town for their annual meeting with the governor being held in Huntsville on Wednesday, October 3rd.
