Where is Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine? Fort McHenry is located in Baltimore, Maryland. Click for directions. How long should I plan for my visit? A visit usually takes two hours. Are pets permitted in the park? Pets must be leashed and attended or otherwise physically restrained at all times. Pets are allowed on the park grounds except the historic area (the fenced area around the fort). How much does it cost to visit the park? On September 12, 1914, the 100th anniversary of the British attack against Fort McHenry, 6500 local school children cloaked in red, white and blue, formed a giant replica of the Flag, which was appropriately named, “The Wonderful Human Flag.”
