Calvin Davis began his SBA career in 1989 as a staff attorney in the Los Angeles District Office. In 1992, he was appointed and served as the SBA Representative and Intergovernmental Liaison to the Presidential Task Force for Los Angeles’ Recovery following the civil disturbances in Los Angeles. In 1998, he became the District Counsel for the Lubbock District Office, and later he was appointed by the SBA Office of General Counsel to simultaneously serve as the District Counsel for the El Paso office. He served in numerous capacities throughout his SBA career including three extended appointments as the Acting Deputy District Director of the Los Angeles District Office and twice as Acting District for the Lubbock District Office.

“Region VI and the Lubbock District Office will benefit from the appointment of our new District Director Calvin Davis ,” said SBA Regional Administrator Yolanda Garcia Olivarez. “Calvin ’s 20 years of experience as our Legal counsel for the Lubbock and El Paso District Offices contributed significantly to our entrepreneur’s growth and made our communities stronger. The Small Business Administration will continue to utilize his talent and business background to serve our Small Businesses in the 71 counties represented in our Lubbock District Office. Calvin is an outstanding individual that has always dedicated his career on helping others which represents true leadership.”

Prior to his employment with the federal government, Davis served as a Tax Consultant and Tax Attorney with the international accounting and consulting firms of Arthur Andersen & Co., Washington, D.C., and KPMG Peat Marwick, Los Angeles, CA. He also served as the Administrator to the Executive Vice President of the Hertz Corporation in Oklahoma City, OK.

Davis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Langston University in Oklahoma and he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. His is married to Renee Gonzales Davis and is the proud father of two teenagers, Toren and Teklyn.
