The Student Advantage Card is the nation's largest student discount program for students 16 years of age and older to access thousands of discount locations across the country, near your campus and online. Student Advantage Discount Cardholders will be eligible to receive a 15% discount on the best available adult rail fare on most Amtrak trains all year long. Get a full year of savings for only $20.
Student Advantage Cardholders Receive 1,000 Bonus Points with Amtrak Guest Rewards Enrollment
As a Student Advantage Cardholder, you are eligible for 1,000 bonus Amtrak Guest Rewards enrollment points upon completion of your first round-trip on Amtrak. You will also receive two points for every dollar spent on Amtrak travel, or up to 750 points per trip on Acela Express.

Online Booking
- On the 'Passenger Discounts' page of the reservation booking process, select 'Student Advantage' as your preferred passenger discount type. Then, on the 'Passenger Info' page of the booking process, enter your Student Advantage membership number.
- Or, in your user profile, select 'Student Advantage' as your passenger discount type, and enter your Student Advantage discount number. Student Advantage will be pre-selected as your preferred passenger discount type, and your Student Advantage discount number will appear, already filled-in, in the appropriate text field.
- When entering your Student Advantage discount number, omit any spaces and dashes.
Offline Booking & Onboard Train
To receive this discount, the cardholder must present both a valid Student Advantage Card and a valid photo ID at time of ticket purchase and onboard trains. Each must be valid for the current school term.
Three-Day Advance Purchase and Discount Limitations

Reservations, and changes, must be made a minimum of three days prior to travel for reserved and unreserved service.

Student Advantage cardholder benefits are non-transferable; the discount is available only to the card-holding student. The cardholder may not obtain discounts for others.

The Student Advantage discount is not valid on weekday Acela Express trains.

The Student Advantage discount does not apply to Business class, First class or sleeping accommodation. These upgrades are permitted upon payment of the full accommodation charges.

For Auto Train service, Student Advantage cardholders receive a 15% discount off adult rail fare. Discount does not apply to the vehicle charge.

The Student Advantage discount is not valid for travel on certain Amtrak Thruway bus services.

The Student Advantage discount is not valid on the Canadian portion of services operated jointly between Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada.

The Student Advantage discount is not valid for USA Rail Passes and Multi-Ride tickets.

The Student Advantage discount may not be combinable with other discount offers; refer to the terms and conditions for each offer.
