FORT LEE, Va. – The Defense Commissary Agency is extending the registration deadline for the 2011 Commissary Commando Competition from Aug. 31 to Sept. 7 to assure all groups have the opportunity to participate in this year’s competition.
In September, commissaries worldwide will open their doors to single service members for Commando events, offering groups opportunities to learn more about their commissary benefit while competing for cash prizes from DeCA’s industry partners worth up to $1,500.
Single service members who sign up to receive Commissary Connection, DeCA’s monthly customer e-newsletter, at DeCA's website will receive tips that could help them win big in the newsletter’s September edition.
For more information and to register, visit the DeCA website.
About DeCA: The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. Authorized patrons purchase items at cost plus a 5–percent surcharge, which covers the costs of building new commissaries and modernizing existing ones. Shoppers save an average of more than 30 percent on their purchases compared to commercial prices – savings amounting to thousands of dollars annually. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America’s military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.
