From its office in Fairbanks, the Central Yukon Field Office manages 22.1 million acres of public lands stretching from the Canadian border to northwestern Alaska. The office's area of responsibility includes a 2-million-acre corridor of public lands straddling the Dalton Highway from the Yukon River to the north side of the Brooks Range. During the summer the field office staffs two facilities along the Dalton Highway: the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center in Coldfoot and a visitor contact station at Yukon Crossing. A field station in Kotzebue is staffed year-round.
