New Jersey: "The education works"!!! Great work CPS Tech Stephen Xenios! Thank you to Jackie Stackhouse Leach for sharing the story of a Livingston CPS site having a save! A grandparent came on Wednesday, to let them know she was in a car crash with her granddaughter. Her vehicle was t-boned on the driver side and her granddaughter was on the passenger side in a rear-facing-only Peg Perego seat. The vehicle was totaled but the child came out with minor bruise on her arm. She had a convertible seat installed by the same Technician who assisted her with the infant seat! Did you know that all of the videos from the National Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) Training Program are available at www.youtube.com/cpsboard? We encourage you to use these videos curbside with parents and caregivers, as well as... go to this site for previously offered webinars and continuing education units for CPST recertification. Just remember for CEUs to also visit http://cpsboard.org/certification-recertification/ so you can take the quiz that completes each CEU session. As always, thank you for all you do! See More
I like being a CPS tech as much as I like cupcakes.
How much do you like being a CPS tech?
Tragedy strikes again. A mother and her two children dead from heatstroke. We think it couldn't happen to us but it does. We are over-scheduled and are often on autopilot.
No need to buy a special device or gizmo-- Just ACT:

A: Avoid heat...stroke-related injury and death by never leaving your child alone in a car, not even for a minute. And make sure to keep your car locked when you’re not in it so kids don’t get in on their own.

C: Create reminders by putting something in the back of your car next to your child such as a briefcase, a purse or a cell phone that is needed at your final destination. This is especially important if you’re not following your normal routine.

T: Take action. If you see a child alone in a car, call 911. Emergency personnel want you to call. They are trained to respond to these situations. One call could save a life.
