Coeur d'Alene Field Office Participates in Student Urban Forestry Program: Two Coeur d'Alene Field Office employees participated in a two-day program involving 500 fifth grade students from the Post Falls School District.  BLM Natural Resource Specialist Bill Cook and Wildlife Education Specialist Beth Paragamian staffed two of the four stations during the April 28 and 29 field trips.  Cook discussed the benefits and impacts of insects and diseases in the forest.  Paragamian lead a discussion on raptors, which included a live owl and several mounted specimens.  The program, sponsored by the Post Falls URban Forestry Commission, included a half-mile walk through the woods to learn about coniferous and deciduous trees; the value of snags and decaying logs; erosion; woldlfowers; and seed dispersal.
