This page contains information concerning the White River Field Office's Resource Management Plan, ongoing and future planning actions, and environmental analyses required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). LAND USE PLANNINGResource Management Plan: The Colorado State BLM Director approved the Record of Decision (ROD) and White River Resource Management Plan (RMP) on July 1, 1997. Click on the link below to view the ROD as well as the Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). Amendments to the 1997 White River RMP Other On-Going Land Use Planning Efforts: Oil and Gas Development Resource Management Plan Amendment : The White River Field Office is working on a plan amendment and associated EIS that will address the potential impacts of significant increases in oil and gas development within the 1.5 million acre field office over the next 20 years. Oil Shale and Tar Sands Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS): The Oil Shale and Tar Sands PEIS will evaluate potential impacts associated with oil shale and tar sands resources leasing and development on lands administered by the BLM in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. Northwest Colorado BLM Greater Sage-Grouse EIS: The BLM is writing an EIS to analyze incorporating new greater sage-grouse conservation measures into its RMPs for the five field offices within the Northwest District: the Colorado River Valley Field Office in Silt, the Grand Junction Field Office, the Kremmling Field Office, the Little Snake Field Office in Craig, and the White River Field Office in Meeker.
WHITE RIVER FIELD OFFICE NEPA REGISTER:The White River Field Office maintains a register of environmental documents prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). As documents are completed, links to the final document will also be posted on the register. Please check the WRFO NEPA Register often as new projects are posted at least twice a month. If you have any questions or would like more information on any of the projects listed on the register, please contact the Planning & Environmental Coordinator at 970-878-3800 or at wrfomail@blm.gov. Jensen-Ute Park Trail: A public meeting to discuss the proposed second phase of the Jensen-Ute Park Connector Trail will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 6:30pm. The BLM is accepting scoping comments until March 26, 2013. For more information about the public meeting or how to comment, please refer to the press release. Detailed information about the proposed trail, including a map, can be found in the proposed action. Coal Lease in Rio Blanco County and Moffat County: The BLM signed a final decision on February 1, 2013 to offer 3,157 acres of federal coal reserves in Rio Blanco and Moffat counties in a future competitive lease sale. The following materials are available for public review: 1) the Combined Geologic and Engineering Report (GER) and Maximum Economic Recovery Report (MER) for LBA COC 74813, 2) environmental assessment (DOI-BLM-CO-110-2012-0023-EA) and Finding of No Signficant Impact (FONSI), 3) the Decision Record, and 4) the press release.
