This web site has been designed to provide you with some information about our state and office.
The state of Maine is 320 miles long and 210 miles wide and has a total land area of 30,862 square miles. It has 3,500 miles of coastline and 2,000 coastal islands, the largest of which is Mount Desert, home of Acadia National Park. Maine also has 6,000 lakes and ponds and 5,100 rivers and streams. Known as the Pine Tree State, Maine has 17 million acres of forest covering approximately 90% of the State. Mount Katahdin, located in Baxter State Park, is the highest mountain in Maine and the end of the Appalachian Trail. In addition to its extraordinary natural beauty, Maine is also recognized for its "lobstah" and its wild blueberries.
Located in the far northeast corner of the United States, Maine is the largest of the New England states. West Quoddy Head, in Lubec, is the easternmost land area of the United States and was first to see the sunrise at the beginning of the new millennium.
Maine is the only state that shares its border with only one other state. In addition, it shares 616 miles of border with Canada (311 land, 305 water.) The State is divided into sixteen counties. The population is 1.3 million for an average of 42.7 persons per square mile.
