Bald Eagle Shot Near Hitchcock, South Dakota

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Department are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting of an immature bald eagle eleven miles east and three miles south of Hitchcock, South Dakota. The eagle was shot and killed prior to March 27, 2009.
Bald Eagles are protected by both federal and state law. Bald eagles are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
