U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT ON COMPREHENSIVE CONSERVATION PLAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR 12 NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGES

 

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will hold public scoping meetings for the release of the Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for twelve North Dakota National Wildlife Refuges (Refuges).

 

The planning effort for the Refuges encompasses approximately 49,000 acres and consists of the following national wildlife refuges: Audubon, Chase Lake, Kellys Slough, Lake Alice, Lake Ilo, Lake Nettie, Lake Zahl, McLean, Shell Lake, Stewart Lake, Stump Lake, and White Lake.  

 

Five scoping meetings are scheduled during the first week of September 2008. These meetings are essential to receive comments from the public on the CCP that will guide the management of the refuges for the next 15 years. The meetings will follow an informal “open house” format. The public is invited to drop by anytime during the meetings to meet with Service personnel, learn more about the Refuge’s CCP, and provide input. Meeting dates and locations are as follows:
