CHARLES F. McVAY APPOINTED U.S. TRUSTEE

FOR COLORADO, UTAH, WYOMING

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Charles F. McVay of Centennial, Colo., has been appointed United States Trustee for Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming (Region 19), effective on April 4, 2004. The appointment was announced today by Lawrence Friedman, Director of the Executive Office for United States Trustees.

"I am pleased to welcome Charles McVay to the U.S. Trustee Program," Friedman stated. "His 14 years of experience as a bankruptcy practitioner, including significant experience representing bankruptcy trustees who recover assets for the benefit of creditors, will aid the Program in carrying out the Attorney General's mandate to curb fraud and abuse in the bankruptcy system."

"It's an honor to be appointed U.S. Trustee for Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming," McVay stated. "I look forward to working with the fine career staff of Region 19, under the leadership of Director Friedman, to help ensure that bankruptcy cases are not tainted by fraudulent or abusive conduct."

Immediately prior to his appointment as U.S. Trustee, McVay was a partner in the Denver law firm of Gorsuch Kirgis LLP, representing creditors and bankruptcy trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation. Before joining that firm, McVay practiced bankruptcy law with the law firms Katch, Sender, Wasserman & Jobin, P.C., in Denver and Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway in Shreveport, La. He served as a Law Clerk to Chief Bankruptcy Judge Stephen V. Callaway of the Western District of Louisiana and as a Staff Attorney for the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal.

McVay received his law degree in 1987 from Louisiana State University Law Center in Baton Rouge, La., and his undergraduate degree in 1983 from Louisiana State University. His professional and community activities include speaking on bankruptcy issues and coordinating pro bono legal services.

The United States Trustee Program is a component of the Justice Department that protects the integrity of the bankruptcy system by overseeing case administration and litigating to enforce the bankruptcy laws.

The Program has 21 regions and 95 field offices. Region 19 is headquartered in Denver with additional offices in Salt Lake City and Cheyenne.
