Since 2001, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has showcased the nation's premier high school football talent. The level of play in these games has demanded the absolute highest levels of mental, emotional and physical strengths for those participating. The expansive and continually growing list of prominent alumni featured in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl's history stands as proof of this strength and the extraordinary level of competition. Some of the most notable All-American alumni include: Adrian Peterson, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, 2012 #1 NFL Draft Pick Andrew Luck, Marcus Lattimore and Robert Woods among many more.
As of the start of NFL training camps, there are more than 200 U.S. Army All-American Bowl alumni on NFL rosters. During the 2012 NFL Draft, 22 U.S. Army All-Americans were selected, including six first round selections. An incredible total of 51 U.S. Army All-Americans have been selected in the past two NFL Drafts. More and more U.S. Army All-Americans enter the NFL each season as the Army All-American Bowl continues to produce some of the game’s brightest stars on its biggest stage.
2007 All-American bowl
Creekside High School | GA
- Berry was a Parade All-American as a senior at Creekside, and also was considered the nation’s top cornerback prospect. He was named the Player of the Year in Georgia by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution after recording 40 tackles and three interceptions in his final season. Berry recorded five tackles in the 2007 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
College: University of Tennessee
- A two-time consensus All-American and First-Team All-SEC performer, Berry was arguably the nation’s best defensive back from his first day on campus. A three-year starter for the Vols, Berry was the recipient of two Jack Tatum Awards (best defensive back) and the Thorpe Award (best defensive back). His sophomore season, in which he recorded 72 tackles, seven interceptions, 265 interception return yards, three sacks and two defensive touchdowns, earned him SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors. In his career, Berry recorded 492 interception return yards, second all-time in NCAA history. He was named to the Sports Illustrated All-Decade Team.
NFL: Kansas City Chiefs, Selected in the 2010 NFL Draft, 1st Round, 5th Overall
- Not only did Berry start all 16 games as a rookie for the Chiefs, he was on the field for every defensive snap of the season. Berry led the Chiefs in interceptions and was second in tackles, leading the team to a playoff berth. For these efforts, Berry was named to the Pro Bowl, the first Chiefs rookie to receive such an honor since Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas.
