    5th Signal Command provides internship for local nationals

    MANNHEIM, Germany – Mr. Jan Sandmaier, an intern with 6981st Civilian Support Group, works on a piece of metal which will be used as one of the many pieces to install a protected distribution system. Sandmaier is one of three apprentices that are currently enrolled in 5th Signal Command’s apprenticeship program. The program lasts for a total period of three years which consists of three weeks on-the-job training and one week of formal school training provided by the German authorities free of cost. Upon completion, the apprentices take an examination and get certified as IT Specialists.
