» Florida Individual Assistance County Data ORLANDO, Fla. -- Federal assistance for Floridians rises steadily as individuals in the Sunshine State recover from damages caused by the 2004 hurricanes. The four disasters resulted in more than 1.247 million storm victims applying for federal and state aid, and federal officials continue to review grant requests to reimburse local agencies for recovery projects under way.

November 5, 2004 - News Release

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The hours of operation for the Supertyphoon Chaba disaster helpline will change beginning this Monday, November 8. The new hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Northern Marianas time, Monday through Friday, until further notice. Those who sustained damage as a result of Chaba, and have already registered for assistance, can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) and TTY 1-800-462-7585 to discuss their application and update information. The FEMA registration line will no longer accept any new applications for assistance.

September 18, 2004 - News Release

SAIPAN, Northern Mariana Islands -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands advise those who sustained damage as a result of Typhoon Chaba to exercise patience when attempting to register for assistance. Teleregistration is still the best and quickest way to register, however, because of multiple disasters on mainland U.S.A, the wait may be longer than normal, but we will get to you.

Housing Assistance (HA): Provides assistance for disaster-related housing needs.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
