NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is sponsoring a campaign to educate consumers about floods and flood insurance. The nationwide FloodSmart consumer campaign seeks to educate homeowners on protecting their homes and property from flooding, and on the need to understand that homeowners insurance will not cover damage from floods.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. --- Ninety nine percent of Arkansas homeowners and business owners do not have flood insurance. Of the state’s past 35 presidential disaster declarations, 24 have involved a flood...that figures two out of every three occurrences involve flooding. "Both the history of flooding in this state and the many floods throughout the midsection of our nation are reminders that flooding is a serious risk to Arkansas residents and the economy," said Federal Coordinating Officer Kevin Hannes of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Even if you don’t live near water your home still has a chance of being flooded. In fact, 25 to 30 percent of flood insurance claims are paid in low risk areas. But the good news is a Preferred Risk Policy provides flood protection for properties outside of high-risk areas at substantially lower premiums.
