LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today the implementation of a new website that provides the general public, the media, county, state and federal officials with information about the three federally declared disasters that occurred in Arkansas earlier this year.

June 23, 2009 - News Release

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Disaster officials announce a series of public assistance (PA) applicant briefings to help those affected by the severe storms and flooding that began on April 27 and continuing to apply for federal disaster recovery assistance. These meetings are open to representatives of local, county and state governments as well as qualified private non-profit (PNP) organizations. These meetings are not for individuals or business owners with damages from these storms.

June 17, 2009 - News Release

Little Rock, Ark.  -- Help is on the way for local and county governments in 37 Arkansas counties to address flood damages and losses that began on April 27 and continuing.  A Presidential declaration for public assistance was issued today to provide funding for damaged public facilities.  There is no declaration for losses to homeowners or renters.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
