May 16, 2011 - News Release

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Five more Illinois counties were designated for Public Assistance (PA) today in the wake of the severe winter storm and snowstorm during the period of Jan. 31 to Feb. 3. The newly designated counties are Grundy, Livingston, McLean, Sangamon and Stephenson. This brings the total number of designated counties for infrastructure losses to 65, according to officials from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill -- State and local agencies and certain private nonprofit organizations in 60 Illinois counties have very little time left to apply for federal disaster assistance.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
