Forest Resource Coordinating Committee
(FRCC)

 


The FRCC is an appointed Federal Advisory committee to the Secretary of Agriculture on private forest conservation, with specific focus of owners of non-industrial private forest land. This FRCC was authorized in the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 to provide direction and coordination of actions within the USDA, and coordination with State agencies and the private sector to effectively address the national priorities for private forest conservation.

Seeking Nominations

The Forest Service is seeking nominations to fill eight positions on the FRCC. The purpose of the committee is to effectively address the national priorities for private forest conservations listed below, with specific focus on owners of non-industrial private forest land: (1) Conserving and managing working forest landscapes for multiple values and uses; (2) Protecting forest from threats and restoring appropriate forest types in response to such threats; and (3)enhancing public benefits from private forests, including air and water quality, soil conservation, biological diversity, carbon storage, forest products, forestry-related jobs, renewable energy production, wildlife corridors and habitats, and recreation.

We are requesting nominations for the following eight positions that will serve staggering one to three terms.

  1. Position 2: One of three State Foresters or equivalent State officials from geographically diverse regions in the United States

  2.  Position 3: One of three State Foresters or equivalent State officials from geographically diverse regions in the United States

  3. Position 4: Representative of a State Fish and Wildlife agency

  4. Position 7: One of three owners of non-industrial private forest land

  5. Position 10: One of three conservation organization representatives

  6. Position 11: One of three conservation organization representatives

  7. Position 13: Representative of an Indian Tribe

  8. Position 14: Representative from a State Technical Committee
