Be aware that air tankers and helicopters are being used on the fire and are actively dropping retardant and water on the fire Anticipate significant smoke in the area Kaiser Pass Rd.
Clovis, CA –Seven lightning fires occurred Saturday on the Sierra National Forest, two of which have now combined to create a 700 acre fire – dubbed the “Bear Fire.”
The fire is located in the John Muir Wilderness between Edison and Florence Lake, just south of Bear Diversion Dam near Bear Dome, ranging from 7500 to 9000 ft. elevation. For more information CLICK HERE
This is your forest, this is your watershed, help plan its future! Sierra National Forest will be hosting a Willow Creek Planning Collaborative meeting starting Monday, September 12, 2011, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The meeting will be held at North Fork Mono Rancheria Community Center. Lunch will be provided. Field trip dates are Friday, September 23rd and Friday, October 14th. We will share our views, listen to others, explore scientific information, and try to reach an agreement on ‘desired conditions’ for the forest.
