Medical Data Management

Medical Data Management

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) provides the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other government agencies with health and medical data management and related information technology services. Through partnership development and in-house expertise, ORISE develops and manages electronic medical recordkeeping for health surveillance programs for active and former worker populations.

ORISE has extensive experience working with health and medical data, as well as government data systems. Our medical data management capabilities also include:

  • Implementation of automated systems, including definition of requirements and process changes needed to meet requirements
  • Systems design (supported by medical, epidemiological and information technology expertise, and the development of national-level partnerships)
  • Application of security and privacy protection measures that have enabled ORISE to obtain, process, and protect privacy act data without compromise for more than 25 years.

Applying these capabilities, ORISE and its partner Axion Health (formerly Occupational HealthLink) have developed electronic medical recordkeeping software deployed at Argonne National Laboratory. This Web-based application provides data management, real-time reporting and integrated decision support for occupational health processes. The custom application administers and integrates exposure data and medical monitoring information for Argonne workers.
