Albohm Re-elected as NATA President |
Current NATA President Marje Albohm, MS, ATC, has won the 2009 NATA Presidential Election. Out of 25,289 eligible members, 5,877 voted, constituting 23% of the eligible voting membership. That's a 3% increase in participation from the 2007 election. Marje will serve her second and final two-year term, with her tenure ending in 2012. Albohm’s main goal is to continue her efforts to get athletic training recognized as a health care profession, which she says involves getting others to recognize, respect and value the skills athletic trainers possess and making sure athletic training education is held to the highest standards. Albohm is a former president of the NATA Foundation, past chair of the NATA Reimbursement Advisory Group, former vice president and secretary/treasurer of the NATA board of directors and past District Four director to the NATA board of directors. She is a recipient of the NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award, the Tim Kerin Award for Excellence in Athletic Training and inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame in 1999. Albohm is currently manager of Customer Education and Fellowship Programs for Ossur Americas and a principal of Firm Solutions, LLC consulting company. H1N1 Immunization and Athletic TrainersNow that the H1N1 vaccine is becoming available across the country, NATA advises all practicing athletic trainers to get immunized. As health care workers, athletic trainers are on the short list to receive immunizations before the public at large. By protecting your own health, you are also protecting the health of your patients. Getting the H1N1 vaccine allows you to be available to treat your patients and means you are not at risk of spreading the virus. Learn more about H1N1 |
