Draft of Next-generation Educator Preparation Accreditation Standards Released for Public Review
Public Comment Period: February 22-March 29, 2013
(WASHINGTON - Feb. 15, 2013) Today, the CAEP Commission on Standards and Performance Reporting released for public comment its draft recommendations for the next generation of accreditation standards for educator preparation. Comments will be accepted at http://standards.caepnet.org February 22-March 29, 2013.
The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) is the new sole accreditor for educator preparation in the United States.

Samuel Stringfield to Keynote Spring 2013 CAEP Conference
Samuel Stringfield will speak to what it takes to become a continuously improving, highly reliable organization:
CAEP Standards offer substantial advances in possible routes to improving educator preparation. Continuous improvement happens when research and best practice evolve into standard operating procedures (SOPs). SOPs must be accompanied with a perpetual mindfulness of when further improvement is needed soas to avoid "the normalization of deviance" and/or cascading failures. Examples from diverse aspects of our larger culture, from public schooling, and possible applications within CAEP will be discussed.
Stringfield is the Director of the School of Education at the University of Cincinnati. Stringfield has spent three decades studying teacher-, school-, and system-effects on the academic and other achievements of students. The author of more than 150 articles, books, and chapters, Stringfield has gathered data in more than 25 states and nearly a dozen countries. His current research focuses on the steps schools and school systems can take in order to provide highly reliable educational services to all our children. Sam has served as a member of the New Board of School Commissioners of the Baltimore City Public Schools, and has served in a variety of posts for the American Educational Research Association and the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement.
